How to Apply

The Merit Cum Means Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses is a scheme provided by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. It is aimed at supporting meritorious students from minority communities who face financial constraints in pursuing professional and technical education.

 

Eligibility Criteria
1. Minority Status: The applicant must belong to a minority community, such as Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Zoroastrians (Parsis).
2. Educational Qualification: The applicant must have secured admission in a recognized professional or technical course at the graduate or postgraduate level.
3. Academic Performance: The student must have scored at least 50% marks in the previous final examination.
4. Family Income: The annual family income of the applicant from all sources should not exceed INR 2.50 lakh.

 

Scholarship Benefits
1. Course Fee: Full reimbursement of course fee for students studying in institutions listed in the scheme and a maximum of INR 20,000 per annum for students studying in other institutions.
2. Maintenance Allowance: Monthly allowance of INR 1,000 for hostellers and INR 500 for day scholars for 10 months in an academic year.

 

Selection Procedure
1. Academic Merit: The selection is based on academic merit and financial need.
2. Reservation: 30% of the scholarships are earmarked for girl students. In case of non-availability of girl students, these scholarships may be transferred to boy students.
3. Renewal: The scholarship is renewable for the next academic year based on the satisfactory performance of the student in the previous year’s examinations and if the student has not changed the course of study.

Application Process
1. Online Application: Interested candidates need to apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
2. Documentation: Applicants must provide various documents, including proof of minority status, academic certificates, family income certificate, bank account details, and Aadhaar number.
3. Verification: Applications are verified by the respective institutions and state government departments before being forwarded to the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

The Government of Telangana offers Postmatric Scholarships to support students from economically weaker sections in pursuing higher education beyond the matriculation level. These scholarships are designed to alleviate financial burdens and promote educational attainment among students belonging to various disadvantaged groups.

 

Eligibility Criteria
1. Residency: The applicant must be a resident of Telangana.
2. Educational Qualification: The student must have passed the qualifying examination (10th grade) and be enrolled in a recognized post-matriculation course.
3. Community: The scholarship is available for students belonging to SC, ST, BC, EBC, Disabled Welfare, and Minority categories.
4. Family Income:
   - For SC/ST students, the annual family income should not exceed INR 2 lakh.
   - For BC/EBC/Disabled Welfare students, the annual family income should not exceed INR 1.50 lakh for rural areas and INR 2 lakh for urban areas.
   - For Minority students, the annual family income should not exceed INR 1.50 lakh.

Scholarship Benefits
1. Reimbursement of Tuition Fee (RTF): Full reimbursement of tuition fee as per the rates fixed by the government.
2. Maintenance Fee (MTF): Monthly maintenance allowance is provided to cover the living expenses of the student.

1. Online Application: Students need to apply online through the Telangana ePASS (Electronic Payment & Application System of Scholarships) portal.
2. Documentation: Required documents include income certificate, caste certificate, Aadhaar card, bank account details, previous academic certificates, and a bonafide certificate from the educational institution.
